
Black Friday Fire – Walking Tour

$20.00The fire of Friday, October 16, 1903, consumed most of downtown Aberdeen and destroyed more than 140 buildings. This tour will explore the cause and course of the fire as it grew from a small cooking fire to a raging inferno. Using period maps we will follow Aberdeen’s most catastrophic fire from a one-legged sailor’s apartment on Hume St. to its desperate dynamite conclusion across the street from Aberdeen General Hospital.
To take advantage of cooler morning hours this tour will start at 11:00 am. Please arrive 15 minutes early, wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water.
